How it works

To activate the Peartune Brose kit, press and hold the light button on your electric bicycle for about 2 seconds. Your dashboard will display “9.9”, which means that the kit is active and you can now ride at over 25 km/h with your Brose motor. To deactivate the kit, repeat the same operation (press the light button). Your dashboard will then display “2.5”, which means that your electric-assisted bicycle is working as it did at the time of purchase.

Description

All electric bikes equipped with a Brose motor can use the Peartune unlocking kit. Whether on the Drive C, Drive S-mag, Drive S-Alu, Drive TF or Drive T, the device allows the speed limiter to be completely removed.

Assistance is only provided up to the regulation speed of 25 km/h for most Brose engines. Only the Drive T has a speed limit of 45 km/h. Once installed and activated, the Peartune MSO-BR2 system can reach some pretty dizzying speeds.

Installation of the Peartune MSO-BR2 requires opening the engine compartment. The wired connectors must be installed between the engine block and the magnetic speed sensor. It is also connected to the battery for power supply. To activate and test it, press the light button and reach that the assistance level flashes on the display.

The Peartune MSO-BR2 continuously captures speed measurements and quickly analyses the data. This electronic brain has a very high response time allowing it to block the limiter as soon as it is activated to allow the engine to continue to assist the cyclist. The Peartune unblocking kit displays the actual values on the screen.

Step by step installaton

  1. Switch off your electric bicycle and remove the battery.
  2. Dismantle the engine block to gain access to the cables.
  3. Disconnect your engine using the connectors provided.
  4. Connect the e unblocking kit to the previously disconnected connectors.
  5. Reassemble your engine on the bike.
  6. Reconnect the battery.
  7. Switch on the electric bicycle and activate the module using the Walk assist button.

Definition of tuning

Unbridle an electric bicycle consists of modifying the original behaviour of the motor so that it does not stop working beyond 25 km/h. The bike is then considered a moped from a legal point of view. There are several ways of operating. We recommend the installation of a release kit that will connect to the electric part.

Advantages compared with manual unclamping

The release consists of changing the location of the speed sensor. There are several methods that work more or less well depending on your bike. With newer models of electrically assisted bikes, touch the original components but sometimes out of order your Brose motor. This is why we recommend the kit that offers more options.

With the Peartune kit for Brush motor, you can activate or deactivate the release with your light button. Also, the kit is invisible because it is housed in the motor housing. Finally, by not moving any part of the frame, you do not risk creating a malfunction.

The Drive C engine provides starting support and assistance up to 6 km/h when you push the bike. The 21.3 cm long and 15 cm wide motor is quite heavy (3.4 kg) and blends discreetly into the design of the bike and is protected by an IP56 waterproof cover.

Drive S-Mag, the athlete

The Drive T drive unit combines all the quality parameters: power, responsiveness, efficiency, dynamism and flexibility. It enables the behaviour of the electric bicycle to be adapted to its use. In other words, Drive T is perfect for those who regularly make short or medium distance journeys and want to take more ambitious rides from time to time.

The reliability and quality of the Drive T engine’s components allow it to guarantee complete assistance every day. Its rated power of 250W allows it to develop a torque of 90 Nm and maximum support of 320%. The thrust of the support can then reach 6 km/h and will only be supported within the regulatory 25 km/h limit without unblocking.

Combined with good batteries, the Drive T is able to get you to your destination effortlessly and safely. It delivers constant power along the entire route, allowing the cyclist to fully enjoy his or her itinerary.

Drive S-Alu, the sportsman

The Drive S Alu motorisation is the sporty version par excellence of the Drive motors for e-bike Brose. It therefore unsurprisingly equips electric mountain bikes with high-quality, highly resistant and high-performance components.

The Drive S Alu drive unit works with highly accurate sensors that measure the pedalling force and pressure exerted in real time to adapt the assistance mode. The precision and responsiveness of the Drive S Alu engine is particularly appreciated, especially on highly technical routes. The instantaneous response of the Drive S Alu engine allows the rider to enjoy an intuitive and smooth ride.

Drive TF, the sprinter

If the athlete needs endurance and the sportsman needs performance, the sprinter relies on speed. Drive TF is the right engine for long distances, because once switched on, it allows a maximum speed of 45 km/h without unblocking. This makes it the choice for commuters or amateur/professional cyclists.

The Drive TF is a fairly versatile engine, but its output torque of 90 Nm puts it firmly in the category of powerful engines with phenomenal thrust. Starting with a Drive TF engine is no easy task. A cyclist who likes speed will appreciate the 20 km/h acceleration from the very first pedal strokes. With all this state-of-the-art technology, it is pleasant to sprint on flat ground or on a circuit with a classic bike equipped with this Drive TF engine.

The riders are usually used to pedalling at a high cadence. However, the maximum electric assistance on this motor is 380% which allows to maintain the speed longer. The 3.4kg motor is waterproof with an IP56 protection rating to allow rides in all weather conditions.

Important note on legislation

Your electrically-assisted bicycle is automatically considered a moped if the engine continues to run beyond 25 km/h. If you tinker with your bike or install a kit, you must take all the necessary steps to comply with the regulations in force.

FAQ

Is my bike still under warranty?

As a precaution, we prefer to consider that the bike warranty (usually 2 years) is no longer valid once you install a release module with your Brose motor.

Will the kit damage my engine?

The kit modifies the signal transmitted to the engine so that the engine continues to run beyond 25 km/h. The nominal power rating of the engine remains the same. In our opinion, there is no risk of damaging your engine.

What is the impact on the autonomy of my electric bicycle?

Chances are you will ride less kilometers on your bike since you will no longer be using your engine. Battery life depends solely on the level of assistance used and the type of route you take (hilly or not).

How can I be sure that this Peartune kit is compatible with my electric bicycle?

The Peartune kit presented is compatible with all bikes equipped with a Brose motor. If you have a Turbo VADO version then your speed will be divided by 2. Are you in doubt? Please contact us.

I don’t have a light on my bike

If you have a light button but the lights are not installed on the bike, this kit will work. If you don’t have a light button, you need to choose another kit. To do this, contact us.
