About ElectricBikeTuning.com

ElectricBikeTuning.com is an independent review site dedicated to ebike tuning kits — helping riders in the UK and internationally choose the right kit for their motor since 2016. We research, test and update our guides so you always get accurate, current information before spending money on a kit.

What we do

The ebike tuning market moves fast: new motors launch with incompatible firmware, software updates brick previously working kits overnight, and compatibility information on manufacturer sites is often incomplete or outdated. We track all of this full-time — consolidating technical data, real-world user reports and dealer feedback into clear, actionable guides.

Our coverage spans Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha, DJI Avinox, Bafang, Brose/QORE and more. Where a kit carries a known risk — such as the E299 permanent motor lock on Shimano EP801 — we say so prominently, not in a footnote.

How we evaluate kits

Every kit is assessed against four criteria, drawing on manufacturer data, verified user experience and our own compatibility checks. We score each dimension and publish our reasoning so you can weigh what matters most for your situation:

Installation

Ease of fitting, tools required, reversibility and whether the kit leaves traces in motor logs.

Discretion

Kit visibility, behaviour during dealer servicing and resilience against OEM firmware updates.

Reliability

Build quality, long-term user reports, manufacturer support and warranty terms.

Compatibility

Motor coverage (Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha, DJI…) and known incompatibility risks flagged clearly.

Editorial independence

Our scores are not for sale. Brands do not pay for positive reviews, sponsored placements or score adjustments. We have never accepted payment to alter a rating or suppress a known compatibility risk. If a kit has a serious flaw — an update that bricks hardware, a motor lock risk — we publish that prominently, regardless of any commercial relationship.

Kit rankings are determined solely by our evaluation criteria. The order you see in our comparison tables reflects measured performance, not commission rates.

Affiliate disclosure

ElectricBikeTuning.com is funded through affiliate commissions. When you click a purchase link on this site and buy a product, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We use geni.us links throughout the site — these handle geo-routing automatically, directing you to the most relevant regional store (Amazon UK, Amazon DE, Amazon FR and so on) based on your location.

These commissions fund our research, hosting and the time we invest keeping compatibility data current. They do not influence our ratings or recommendations.
