TQ HPR — the ultra-light harmonic-drive family

TQ (Technische Qualität, Germany) has been producing harmonic pin-ring drive motors since 2022. Three variants coexist in 2026:

  • TQ HPR50 (2022, still in production) — 50 Nm rated (approx. 38 Nm measured in practice) / 300 W / 1.85 kg. Q-factor 135 mm: the narrowest on the market. IP67. Used on Trek Fuel EX-e, Scott Lumen, Pinarello Nytro, BMC Fourstroke AMP. Tuning kits available: SpeedBox 3.1, SpeedFun Furious/Ribelle, PearTune MSO TQ, bikespeed RS.
  • TQ HPR60 (June 2025) — 60 Nm / 350 W / 1.92 kg. Direct successor to the HPR50 on new model lines. Fitted to Trek Fuel+ 2026, Yeti MTe, Scott Solace eRide, Propain, Norco. Compatible with SpeedBox 3.1 and PearTune MSO TQ. PearTune has confirmed HPR60 support on its 2026 roadmap.
  • TQ HPR40 (June 2025) — 40 Nm / 200 W / 1.17 kg. Ultra-light road and gravel motor. Found on Canyon Endurace:ONfly and Orbea Rallon RS. No confirmed internal kit is available for the HPR40 — the BadassBox 4 is the only option, and only on bikes with an external rear wheel speed sensor.

The TQ family is known for its near-silent operation and minimal Q-factor — at the cost of lower peak assistance compared to Bosch or Yamaha. A tuning kit does not change the motor torque output; it only removes the assistance cut-off, allowing the motor to keep assisting at higher speeds for off-road riding.

ZF CentriX — automotive group enters the mid-drive market

Announced at Eurobike 2024, the ZF CentriX uses a 48 V harmonic (strain-wave) drive system and is available in two versions: CentriX 90 (90 Nm) and CentriX 75 (75 Nm), both weighing around 2.5 kg. ZF (a major German automotive supplier) provides a complete ecosystem including display, battery, and connectivity. The first production bike is the Raymon Tarok Ultra; Riese & Müller has adopted the CentriX 90 on its flagship models for 2026.

No dedicated internal tuning kit exists for the ZF CentriX as of mid-2026. The BadassBox 4 remains the only viable option, contingent on the specific bike having an external rear wheel speed sensor. Check your model's specification before purchasing.

Fazua Ride 60 — discontinued May 2026

Porsche eBike Performance GmbH (Fazua) ceased all operations in May 2026. The Fazua brand and the Ride 60 motor are no longer manufactured or sold. Aftersales servicing on existing bikes is subject to individual bike brand commitments — not Fazua directly.

The Fazua Ride 60 (60 Nm / 450 W peak / 1.96 kg) was fitted to premium lightweight road and trail ebikes: Trek Domane+, Orbea Gain, Cannondale Topstone Neo SL, Pinarello Dyodo, and Focus Paralane2. Its distinctive feature was the removable Drivepack system, allowing the motor and battery unit to be extracted for riding without electric assistance. Existing tuning kits for the Ride 60 platform continue to function on bikes already in circulation.

No kit for your motor? The universal fallback

If your motor does not appear in the table above, the BadassBox 4 is the default universal solution. It works on any ebike with an external rear wheel speed sensor — which covers the overwhelming majority of models on the market. It operates without any electronic contact with the motor, leaving no traces. Installation takes around 15 minutes with no tools required.

The trade-off: the console displays half your actual speed. The free Boost Buddy app (iOS/Android) shows the real figure via Bluetooth.

Other motors tuning FAQ

Can the TQ HPR50 be tuned?
As of June 2026, no dedicated internal kit is available for the TQ HPR50. PearTune has confirmed TQ HPR50 support on its product roadmap, but the kit is not yet released. The BadassBox 4 (external, universal) is currently the only practical option, provided your bike has an external rear wheel speed sensor.
Is there a tuning kit for the TQ HPR60?
As of June 2026, no dedicated internal kit is available for the TQ HPR60. PearTune has also listed HPR60 on its roadmap for 2026, but the product is not yet available. The BadassBox 4 (universal external) is the only current option. The HPR60 is fitted to Trek Fuel+ 2026, Yeti MTe, Scott Solace eRide, Propain, and Norco models.
Can I still tune my Fazua Ride 60 ebike?
Yes, if you already own a Fazua-equipped bike, any existing kits already in circulation continue to work. However, Fazua (Porsche eBike Performance GmbH) shut down entirely in May 2026 — no new bikes are being made and no new kits are being developed for the platform. Spare parts and servicing are covered by individual bike brand commitments, not Fazua directly.
Is there a tuning kit for the ZF CentriX?
No dedicated internal kit exists for the ZF CentriX 90 or CentriX 75 as of mid-2026. The BadassBox 4 is the only viable option, and only if your bike has an external rear wheel speed sensor. Check the Raymon Tarok Ultra and other CentriX-equipped models for sensor placement before purchasing.
What is the best tuning solution for a rare or unlisted motor?
The BadassBox 4 is the universal fallback. It works on any ebike with an external rear wheel speed sensor — which covers the vast majority of models. It requires no interaction with the motor electronics and leaves no traces. It is the safest choice for rare or unconfirmed motor platforms.
Does the TQ motor tuning affect torque?
No. A tuning kit does not alter the motor's nominal torque or power output. The TQ HPR50 continues to deliver its rated 50 Nm (approx. 38 Nm measured in real-world conditions). The kit only removes the assistance cut-off point, allowing the motor to keep assisting beyond the legal 15.5 mph threshold — for off-road use only.
